MBTI® 2024

Let us continue to re-visit the original values and purpose of the Myers-Briggs type Indicator® as we live in times of change/transformation

Recently I have again had the privilege of introducing people to the MBTI® and working with those already qualified.

At the time of the pandemic I remember writing:
“As I reflect on the world around us and realise how important self-awareness is for us individually and together, it seems that the values of the MBTI® as first envisioned are coming full circle.”

My time spent with Kathy Myers, prior to her death, allowed me to see clearly how the family had grasped the needs of their times by appreciating differences.

Surely, now is a moment to recapture the real depth, with a Jungian understanding, of what the MBTI® is really about. What could be more relevant than to realise what has been, and is happening to us, both at the level of the individual and the collective unconscious?

“The more aware I/We become, the freer I am/We are, to choose.”

These TWO DAYS (can be taken together or separately) will allow us to GO DEEPER into MBTI® with Dynamics and Take a look at the OTHER Side of Ourselves : ‘our Shadow’

MBTI® and Type Dynamics: 23rd January 2024, 27th July 2024

The OTHER side of Ourselves: 24th January 2024, 28st July 2024

£100.00 per day to cover input, materials and light refreshments

FOR THOSE WHO ARE UNFAMILIAR WITH THE MBTI®

What is it?

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® is based on the theory of Carl Gustav Jung’s psychological types and developed over many years into practical and well researched use by a mother and daughter team, Katharine Briggs and Isabel Myers.
It is now used worldwide and has been translated into a number of different languages.

By understanding and valuing differences between types, individually and in a group setting, we come to appreciate what each can bring. There are many applications of the MBTI®: it is first and foremost a tool of self-development and awareness, as it can take us into what Jung described as the “shadow-side of the personality”.

It is excellent for team-building, coaching, leadership, change and stress, communication and in conflict resolution.

Essential to the MBTI® is that it is CONFIDENTIAL TO THE PERSON. Sharing with another calls for the express and un-pressured permission of the person concerned. It is not a tool for selection (an unethical use of the Indicator).

It is simply a way to look at a person’s preferred way of looking at the world, collecting information and making decisions and to value that others do these differently.

Ann O’Sullivan offers a basic introduction to the MBTI® on a 1-1 basis, with sessions lasting 1 to 2 hours and include materials.
Workshops can be tailored to meet the needs of specific groups/ organisations/teams.

Who Am I?

Having been introduced to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® whilst studying at the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley CA, I brought it into the UK in 1980 and have been using it consistently over the past forty plus years.

I have taken it to people from a wealth of backgrounds and to many countries (giving workshops to people as far afield as Australia, Belgium, Finland, France and Gibraltar in addition to many around the UK and in Northern and Southern Ireland) and so bring to it an understanding, experience and much practical use.

I was part of the original MBUG (Myers-Briggs Users’ Group) and a founder member of BAPT (British Association of Psychological Type). Trained by Gordon Lawrence in the first UK Training Programme held at Emmaus House in 1986 (Emmaus House was then in Clifton, Bristol). For twenty years I was a member of the Training Faculty of the Oxford Psychologists Press (OPP) …now the Myers Briggs Co.® and trained on the sponsored progressional workshops at Emmaus House in both Steps 1 and 2 Alongside this I have worked (and continue to do so) with registered practitioners providing on-going/development workshops.

My interest is in integrated human development, so being with people on their life’s journey.
